The Screaming Staircase litterary essay

The Screaming Staircase Essay
                        By: Jonathan Stroud

I believe that the claim in the book The Screaming Staircase by Jonathan Stroud is that you should always be brave and help out, love, and worry about others. This is almost the same as saying you should care about other people and to not just care about yourself. This book is mostly based off of being brave because the Lockwood and Company is forced into many challenges that they are afraid of but they do them and that’s exactly what shows the importance of being brave because if you’re not brave then sometimes you won’t try new things. Things get tough, like how the main character (Lucy) has to meet new people and figure out important evidence and other stuff to do for her team.

During one part in the story Lucy and her boss Anthony Lockwood are faced to go up against a ghost in a house. One night when everything goes wrong they are forced into a room and the ghost keeps coming closer to them so they don’t have anything to do. The ghost breaks through their equipment and all of the sudden they start a fire and the entire house starts to burn on fire and the entire house catches on fire. Now things go wrong because they are hurt but even worse than that people like a strong Police company in London called DEPRAC are looking to sew them because they set their clients house on fire.

One day a man named Agent Barnes stopped by their house and all of the sudden he looked at a trophy case Anthony Lockwood owned. In it was this ghost and when he opened the case he spilled his coffee everywhere and noticed that they were keeping a ghost in a bottle. He got very angry but that wasn’t the worst part was he might shut down the Company. Now this company knew they had to do something so they investigated a case on a ghost girl who was killed. The goal of this investigation was to figure out who killed Annie Ward who was the girl that got killed by a man who was possibly a man named Hugo Blake. It ended up that the crew of George Cubbins, Lucy Carylye, and Anthony Lockwood understand that DEPRAC cannot find evidence that Hugo Blake actually killed Annie Ward so the whole case was busted so now the chances of their company getting their money back was one and a 1,000,000.

Next the team has yet another challenge on their hands. A man named John Fairfax has been asked to come to their house and he talks with them. He looks at all of them and he knows that they are not the smartest people in the world, neither are they the best investigators in the world but he gives them a big mission and this involves a trip to a house and every part of the house has a horrifying story so it’s supposed to be the most haunted house in all of Brittan. But there’s one part of the house that is the most haunted of all, it’s called The Screaming Staircase. In this situation they must be brave and they must take the next step up which is really hard for them. They get on the train and drive there. Once they get there they can tell that it’s going to be tough to take place in this house and walk out with the money.

This book is very cool and it keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire team. The group of Anthony, George, and of course Lucy may not have always succeeded in life but they were brave and every time they had a hard job to do, they took it because there brave and they show the importance of that trait. It’s important to try new things because you never know what will really happen and you also should constantly take risks because life is sometimes about taking risks. This books shows that anytime you’re out doing something different think about the fact that you’re out doing something that many people probably won’t be able to do in their entire lifetime so it’s important to be open minded with all kinds of things. All of these come together and show you what to do.
